Left Behind movie review

The remake of the Left Behind movie was an interesting twist. Some of the casting was closer to what the characters looked like in the books. Nicholas Cage as Captain Rayford Steele was a bit of stretch from the dashing appearance of Brad Johnson, but the actor carried off the role in a believable way.

Overall the film did not go into the political aspects of the book. Instead, it focused on the rapture and what happened of the plane and the plight of one family with some members taken to heaven and the two left behind. It was a wonderful plane disaster movie, with touching scenes between father and daughter both before and after the event.

All in all. A good movie even though it was not as faithful to the book as the original film. The faith aspects were played down in this version and aimed more at a secular rather than a Christian audience. Well worth watching.

Revelation Road : The Black Rider Review

Revelation Road:The Black Rider was a lot of fun to watch. It reminded me of the Mad Max movies and they even mentioned that connection in the extras. This is the third movie in the series and well worth watching.

Josh McManus is trying to rescue a kidnapped girl. She's injured and he ends up in a town where the leader refuses to help unless Josh goes and finds the 'Shepherd' and brings him back to the town to be turned over to the authorities.  Sofia, the leader's daughter tags along uninvited. Do they find the shepherd? Watch the movie and find out!

The absolute delight in this film is Kevin Sorbo who plays Honcho, the leader of thieves. The market place scenes are wonderful and very realistic to what could happen in the absence of any real social structure.

As they say in the extras, rather than concentrate on major world events like most post rapture stories, the emphasis in this series is on what is going on in the lives of everyday people and how they're living.

This movie is highly recommended.

God's Got This

When you feel like you're dropping off the edge of the Earth.
When you think it can't get any worse.
When you wonder what you could possibly have done that was so wrong.
Remember.
God's Got This.

You are His masterpiece.
You are his precious and beloved Child.
You are an heir God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
You are already sitting on the right hand of God.
You are healed. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally.
You live more than abundantly.
You are taken care of via His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.
You can do all the things Christ did and even more because Jesus sits in heaven.
You can speak in Tongues, speak forth prophecy, discern spirits, have words of knowledge and wisdom. And that's only the beginning of the spiritual gifts!
You name is written in the Lamb's book.
You will be raised from the dead or changed when Christ returns.
You're going to get to meet all those wonderful people you've read about in the Bible.
You get to live in heaven - forever.

So Remember.
God's Got This.

Movie Review : The Mark 2 - Redemption

Another fantastic film showing how Christian films are growing up is The Mark 2 - Redemption.

The story starts where the first film ended and shows our two heroes, the carrier of the experimental and successful chip that will be used by the Anti-Christ and the stewardess. Last we saw of them they had parachuted off the airplane and were drifting down onto Hong Kong where fires were burning and the streets in chaos. They're are chased by bad guys whose job it is to bring the hero back in - alive - so the great plan can commence.

This film is gritty, with gun fights, complete with bloody wounds, slave rings, and takes place in Hong Kong. It isn't the usual cleaned up streets. Instead, it shows the city in all its honesty - a refreshing change. Even the scene when they find the slave girls shows the deplorable living conditions they are forced to endure.

Through out, there is the message of hope by salvation in Jesus Christ.

Out of five stars - this film is a four and half, suggested for older teens and adults.

Movie Review - Revelation Road

Released a couple of weeks ago, 'Revelation Road' is another fine example of Christian films growing up by being both entertaining and yet faith filled at the same time. While the bikers as the bad guys is cliche', the conflict between the leader and his unwanted daughter is tense and makes the viewer wonder what happened between them.

The story centers around a salesman selling bullet proof jackets who saves the life of a store owner and his granddaughter when the bikers attack and try to rob/murder them. It strands him in the town while he's trying to get home to his wife and child. The bikers go after him seeking revenge and just when all seems lost - the impossible happens.

What is very unique about this film is the different way the rapture was filmed. It definitely shows the mortal taking on immortality and what is left behind is NOT the expected empty clothes. Another sweet tidbit is the surprise appearance of an actor who saves the granddaughter and whispers God's plan to her. For those who know the actor from his work, there is no doubt exactly who he is protraying.

'Revelation Road' is the first in what is going to be a series. The blogger can't wait until it's released.

Next week 'The Bible Miniseries' will be continued.

Movie Review ; The Mark

Wow! Want to talk about a perfect blend of entertainment suitable for both secular and Christian audiences.

The film opens with a first trial human experiment in a cargo container on the docks in Bangkok, guarded by mercenaries who are attacked by Ninja type fighters. Most are killed except for Chad Turner who accidentally becomes a very valuable commodity for Avanti, a company waiting to announce a huge break through at a global conference in Berlin.

Most of the action takes place on a flight flying between Bangkok and Berlin. Some of the action reminds the viewer of 'Air Force One' with a hijacking attempt to capture 'the mark' Chad, executed hostages, and wounded pilots. Not to mention some twists very similar to the plane scenes in 'Left Behind'.

'The Mark' is an excellent film full of action, political intrigue and exotic locations. Not to mention happenings that could be ripped from today's headlines and realistic yet frightening future.

Out of five stars, one being the lowest and five the highest, this film is five.

'Why Not Question' : Movie Review - 'Jerusalem Countdown'

Ripped right of today's headlines, 'Jerusalem Countdown' tells the story of FBI agents who are trying to stop terrorists from bombing various US cities with nuclear weapons. Oddly enough, they discover the government has a plan in place in the event of rapture and both are thrown into shock as they try to stop the deaths of the Israel's leaders. Well written this film keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. Some of the failures are shocking and realistic. Hero's don't always win. The ending poses many questions and desire to see what eventually happens to the FBI agents. Also presented is an interesting take on the rapture that is not to be missed. On a scale of 1 to 5 this film is a strong 4.5. Highly recommended for those who love spy thrillers.
