If this question was presented to a geologist, they'd say no. However, recent quakes have triggered fault lines and more quakes, so one begins to question. It is also speculated that if the supervolcano Yellowstone ever erupts, it will trigger earthquakes in California, as well all along the Pacific coast and might well cause several other volcanoes along the 'ring of fire' to erupt.
Scary scenerio. But not as frightening as what is yet to come.
Revelation 6:12 KJV 'And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.'
We know from recent eruptions that the sun can be blocked by ash and the moon's coloring can be affected as well.
Revelation 8:5 KJV 'And the angel took the censor, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the the earth; and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightenings, and an earthquake.'
Sounds vaguely as if there is a combination of a volcanic eruption along with an earthquake, which, scientific findings have found there are often quakes before hand. There is also lightening flashes and the sound of thunder usually associated with volcanic eruptions.
Revelation 11:13 KJV 'And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted and gave glory to the God of Heaven.'
We're used to hearing about people dying in a quake. But seven thousand?
Revelations 16:18-21 KJV 'And there were voices, and thunders and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell; and great Babylon came in remembrance of God, to give unto her to give unto her the cup of wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent (57-80 pounds): and men blasphemed God because of the plague thereof was exceeding great.'
Whoaa! Here's our world wide quake. Notice it says, such has not happened since men have been on earth, which is why geologists think it can't happen. However, here again is mix of odd images including thunders and lightnings - and look at this finding, they can also trigger volcanic eruptions (wikipedia) and landslides. Not to mention that a volcanic eruption can also trigger quakes, as is speculated if Yellowstone blows. Note also the huge stones falling - also consistent with volcanic eruption and such evidence still remains at Yellowstone. For the curious, the huge stones are scattered in fields at the north end of the park. Also note that the islands and mountains vanished. Something similar to this happened during the quake and tsunami a few years ago. Islands were raised and some fell. Before it happened, people couldn't remember a quake ever doing that.
So, it looks like not only are there earthquakes during the last days, but also massive volcanic eruptions.
