Recently, religious leaders despaired of ever being able to reach the entire world for Christ. One assumes because they're trying to hurry the return of Christ. However, the real question to be asked is, should they really worry about it and are they really responsible for carrying the word to every nook and cranny of the world?
Answer. No.
Yes, there are verses saying people won't hear unless someone goes and that there's a huge harvest and not enough workers. Plus, all believers are charged with sharing the gospel of salvation.
However, let's look at some other verses.
Acts 2:47 KJV 'And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.'
The verse is talking about the first days of the 'church'. Only those who were supposed to believe, did.
Romans 8:29-30a KJV 'For whom he did foreknow (to begin to know first or beforehand), he also did predestinate (to mark off first or beforehand) to be conformed (having the same form)to the image (likeness) of his Son, that he might be the firstborn(literal first born) among many brethren (near or remote brother).
Moreover whom he did predestinate (same as in above verse), them he also called:'
Okay, God already knows who is and who isn't going to believe. He's always known.
Ephesians 1:5 KJV 'Having predestinated (same word meaning as in Romans) us unto the adoption (covered in an earlier blog) of children by Jesus Christ himself, according to (by) the good pleasure (good thought) of his will (wish).'
Again, those God knew who would believe in him.
Ephesians 1:11 In whom we have obtained (inheritance, to chose by lot, allot) an inheritance, being presdestinated (same meaning) according to the purpose (a setting before) of him who worketh all things after the counsel (purpose) of his own will(wish):
Same in this verse.
So, the questions is, are these leaders 'putting God in box'? They seem to be assuming they alone, are responsible for spreading the word to all corners of the world, yet, God ALREADY KNOWS who will and won't believe.
Is it so beyond modern man's thoughts that God can give the desire to a person go to say a deep forest of the Amazon, at the right time, to redeem those who will, at some point believe in Him? Perhaps there have been no missionaries to some places because its not yet time or maybe no one there will ever believe.
Bottom line, the religious leaders need to stop worrying about it and allow God to do things His way, at the appropriate moment, with those He has already chose for such work.
