'Why Not Question' - Book Review - 'Solar Flare' by Larry Burkett

A little known by very good Christian Speculative novel is 'Solar Flare' by Larry Burkett. The story involves a professor who predicts, correctly, that a massive solar flare will end life as we know it in a few short days. It disrupts the current electronic society, grounds all aircraft and forces human kind back into a more primitive state. It disrupts lives and causes many to question their faith.

Classified a thriller, it is a Science Fiction as well, at its very best. It has all the ingredients for a classic disaster and the aftermath fall out. Highly recommended!

Available on Amazon.

'Why Not Question' - Book Review - 'Starfire' by Stuart Vaughn Stockton

Meet Stuart Vaughn Stockton. He wrote a book called 'Starfire'. His characters are dinosaurs. Yes, that's right, there isn't a human anywhere in the novel.

Rathe goes on a quest with the rest of his military group, infiltrating the enemy and seeking out an ancient device that legend says, will destroy their world. Are the old stories true? Has their continual war caused them to lose much of their technology? And who is this mysterious prophet who told Rathe his is a unique destiny?

A bit slow to start but once into the novel it's a page turner the reader won't want to put down. Perfect for those who enjoy military Science Fiction. Perfect for both the secular and Christian markets. Available from Marcher Lord Press and Amazon.

'Why Not Question' - Book Review - 'Alpha Redemption' by P.A. Baines

In the tradition of Asimov and Clarke but with a Christian twist, the author raises the question if AI computer can know Christ and what would it do to protect its human passenger - who is aging backwards.

The book is a marvelous mixture of present and past story line, telling this tale in a unique and different way. The journey is from Earth to a distant world and back again. The Theory of Relativity is brought into play and the blogger can't wait to read the sequel!

'Alpha Redemption' by P.A. Baines from Splashdown Books and Amazon.

'Why Not Question' - Book Review - 'Winter Awakening' by Dana Bell

Welcome to the summer of Christian Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror book reviews. In the weeks following this blogger will suggest titles for reading around the pool, while traveling in the car, relaxing in the hotel, or wherever there might be a few moments and the vacationer needs something to fill the time.

So sit back, relax, and read about the first book.

Every wish you could sit down and talk to your cat?

Word Warrior lives in a world covered in snow and ice. The only acceptable future for a male is to challenge and impregnate females. However, he wants more and learns to read the ancient human language. It makes him a desirable mate.

In the meantime, strange things are happening with the wolves who once hunted them and odd, zig-zag tracks are being left outside the school where Word Warrior has chosen to live. Is this some new monster come to threaten them? Or have the dreaded humans returned?

Dana Bell wrote the first version of 'Winter Awakening' during her final semester in college. It evolved from a short story into a novel and was eventually bought by Wolfsinger Publications. It is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords.

'Why Not Question' - Ephesians - Men in Marriage Part 3

Now, our final verses about marriage from Ephesians. V 31-33 (KJV)

For his cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Cause - anti toutou - 'for this cause' signifying the principle or motive (Vines, P 92. Leave - (Greek word has letters not available on modern keyboards) means to leave down, behind, utterly. Shall - fulfill a promise (according to the dictionary. joined - to be joined or join self to. Second shall is a future tense. It takes time for a couple to become alike. It can be more easily seen in those who have been together fifty plus years. They mirror each other in words, gestures, etc. Flesh again is skin.

The great mystery I won't go into during this blog. It takes time to understand the full impact of the reference.

Love, is the same one in previous verses. Reverence here means - in awe.

So finally, a man is to leave his parents behind, join himself to his wife, and eventually, they will become 'one flesh' or mirror each other. It will be like the Great Mystery of Christ and his church and finally, the man is again told to love his wife as himself and for the wife to be in awe of her husband.

Interesting how the man got more instruction on how to treat his wife, huh?
