Revelation Road : The Black Rider Review

Revelation Road:The Black Rider was a lot of fun to watch. It reminded me of the Mad Max movies and they even mentioned that connection in the extras. This is the third movie in the series and well worth watching.

Josh McManus is trying to rescue a kidnapped girl. She's injured and he ends up in a town where the leader refuses to help unless Josh goes and finds the 'Shepherd' and brings him back to the town to be turned over to the authorities.  Sofia, the leader's daughter tags along uninvited. Do they find the shepherd? Watch the movie and find out!

The absolute delight in this film is Kevin Sorbo who plays Honcho, the leader of thieves. The market place scenes are wonderful and very realistic to what could happen in the absence of any real social structure.

As they say in the extras, rather than concentrate on major world events like most post rapture stories, the emphasis in this series is on what is going on in the lives of everyday people and how they're living.

This movie is highly recommended.

God's Not Dead - movie review

A college professor demand's all his students write on a piece of paper, God is dead. Sign it and turn it in. One student, a Christian, can't bring himself to do that. What happens is that he is given the chance to prove his case and the class gets to decide - despite what this might and does cost him.

A wonderfully written and pretty well acted film that speaks to all of us who have been in this position. And asks the question, if it were you, would you stand up for what you believed in?

Great guest appearance by the Newsboys who sing, of course, God's Not Dead.

Christmas Movie Review : The Christmas Angel

'The Christmas Angel' is a touching film about a little girl who makes friends with a mysterious lady, played by Della Reese, living in a rundown house next door. Without giving much away, she discovers the woman's many secrets and in the end, the two are bonded.

There is also a love story between her mother (Teri Polo) and a new doctor in town (Kevin Sorbo). The supporting cast is marvelous including one of Disney's former childhood actresses.

I rate this film at about a four. It's a great family film.

'Why Not Question' : Movie Review - 'What if...'

'What If...' follows the tradition of 'It's a Wonderful Life' or 'The Family Man' allowing a successful investment banker to discover what his life would have been like if he'd followed God's plan for his life rather than his own. With the help of an angel named Mike, protrayed by John Ratzenberger, Ben Walker (Ken Sorbo) takes a walk from being single and rich to being a pastor of a failing church, married and father of two daughters.

The film is filled with humorous moments and strong emotional ones. The dead fish scenes are just too funny for any parent who has had to help a child deal with the death of a pet. Not to mention the final outcome and solution. Or a teen daughter liking a guy and how 'dad' over reacts and does the wrong thing.

Awarded the Dove Award for Family Seal of Approval the film is highly recommended for those who enjoy Christian films.
